We also believe that to be a good business ourselves, we need to understand what matters most in terms of the values we have and the approach we take to our work and to our relationships with clients, colleagues, suppliers and broader stakeholders.

ASKING WHY

Questioning encourages learning. By asking ‘Why?’ we learn about our clients, and often they learn about themselves. This helps to build genuine relationships and meaningful results.

LISTENING

Having open discussions is refreshing and important. But listening is more important than talking. We listen to our clients, colleagues, audiences, and to the market, so that we can figure out the way ahead together most effectively.

CURATING & CONNECTING

We are lucky to work with a wide variety of people and organisations across different sectors and countries. Oftentimes, we see that solutions developed in one place could answer challenges faced in another. As ‘purposeful storytellers’, we believe we have a responsibility to act on this knowledge. We are committed to curating the solutions we find and connecting the changemakers we meet – through the stories, initiatives, events and partnerships we build.

PRACTISING WHAT WE PREACH

We put purpose before profit, making sure the outcome has a positive social impact. We seek to ‘buy social’ where possible, and to procure products and services for clients and ourselves in a sustainable and responsible way.

CUTTING OUR CLOTH

As social entrepreneurs have learned, ‘good business’ depends on producing quality products and services. Realistic expectations, good planning and some creative thinking can achieve ‘brilliant storytelling’ at many different budget levels.

THE ARCHIMEDES PRINCIPLE

Though we do have ‘Eureka!’ moments, we know good ideas come through thoughtful conversations and thorough research. We make time to a) look outwards at the world to find guidance, solutions and inspiration, and b) look inwards to tell original, compelling stories with honesty and objectivity.

This is reflected is both the way we tell stories and how we treat each other, our clients and all those we engage with.
